2pm: Afternoon writers workshop for adults (poetry and prose) with Eamon Carr. Venue - The Anchor Bar (at the Clare Island Community Centre).
This workshop will examine the mechanics of play-writing, including useful pointers such as interrogating scripts and improving structure. The emphasis will be on the the mythology interface, involving the group as participants.
The Anchor bar at the Clare Island Community Centre will be open for lunch and dinner and will be the happening spot to congregate and participate in the events. After evening dinner service, this will be the venue for readings by Eamon Carr and Kelly Michels.

Clare Island boasts a rich cultural heritage and a raft of craftspeople, artists, musicians and dancers – and Westival is once again reaching across the water to embrace this creative spirit.

Clare island’s artistic community and St Patrick’s National School will work alongside writer and dramatist, Horslips drummer Eamon Carr and poet Kelly Michels to curate a number of island events. The events will be anchored in an exploration of how Irish myth and legend helps us navigate and make sense of a modern world that at first sight seems so far away from the wisdom of these stories.

Held in association Westival and Connemara-based Doire Press, and supported by Blackshell Farms.
