Daithí + Elaine Mai After Dark

The Westival Club @ Mill Times. Friday 26th Oct, 11 pm

Prepare to dance yourself into another dimension while witnessing a visual treat for the senses. Galwegian musicians and producers Daithí and Elaine Mai’s once-off show merging uplifting electronic synth, Irish airs and visual graces to create an electronica nirvana with an ambient, soulful deep-house dance vibe. A great chance to catch two Irish electronic wizards wielding their well-honed skills for your dancing pleasure.

Fiddle-playing, beat-looping Daithí uses electronics to transform traditional Irish music into something unique and different. His hits have included ‘Chameleon Life’, ‘Case Closed’, ‘In Flight’ featuring The Corona’s Danny O’Reilly, and the viral sensation ‘Mary Keane’s Introduction’, which features Daithí’s 90-year-old grandmother. His latest tune, ‘Take The Wheel’, features frequent collaborator Sinéad White and Bell X1’s Paul Noonan.

Queen of Irish melodic electronic music Elaine Mai’s vibrant and atmospheric sets craft instrumental layers and lilting harmonies to build towards an ecstatic centrepoint. Her remix of ‘Wicked Game’ was voted the best tune of Electric Picnic 2017 (Irish Times Culture), and her latest release, a reimagining of Liza Flume’s track ‘Sheets’ sees her continue her exploration into the form. Over the past two years, she has released several new remixes and co-produced the track ‘Rocamadour’ with Daithí.
