This series of artworks is inspired by costal views and inland landscapes of Mayo and offshore Island Inishturk. This work is mostly of mixed media textile. Her compositions have a painterly quality and are concerned with colour and texture, and light in our rural landscape.
The artwork values the beauty of the natural environment and fragility of it. The fabric pieces she incorporates in her artworks have a sustainable life also. They are often reused, sometimes from garments, sometimes fleeces from a hedgerow or specific area.The are professionally died according to the fabric type ; cotton silk , synthetic etc. They have an extra resonance from certain people or place that makes them very personal.
The images she creates are informed by photographs and sketches made on site.
