This exhibition will be launched by Dr Katie Sweeney, National Director for the Integration of the Arts and Creativity, Department of Education on Thursday 27th October. Due to venue restrictions, only a group of 50 children from Scoil Naomh Bríd Ballycastle, North Mayo and St. Patrick’s College, Lacken Cross will be in attendance. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate members of the public at this time.
The exhibition will be open to the public to visit from 2pm to 5pm, Friday 28th October through to Monday 31st October inclusive.
From 6pm each evening we invite you to drive or walk around this venue to view a wonderful display of lanterns visible from the street.
“Growth” is the title of a joyous exhibition of 70 light box lanterns by the pupils of Scoil Naomh Bríd, Ballycastle in North Mayo. The project is the result of a seven-week residency by Mayo artist Cas McCarthy in collaboration with young artists from the primary school and teacher Francesca Scott, funded through Teacher Artist Partnership (TAP), a Department of Education and Skills initiative, which is managed by Mayo Education Centre. The exhibition also features the recorded voices of the young artists.
‘’Growth ‘’ premiered at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in North Mayo in April earlier this year where it received a wonderful response, with Ballinglen Managing director Una Forde remarking ‘’this show would rival any of the international exhibitions hosted in the Ballinglen over the past 25 years’’
‘’Magnificent‘’ (Sean Walsh, Director Ballina Arts Centre)
