Call for Submissions: Echoes of Westport – A Celebration of Stories and Memories

As Westport marks fifty years of our unique arts festival, Westival, in partnership with Tertulia Bookshop, invites you to be part of something truly special.

We’re proud to announce Echoes of Westport, a commemorative collection of stories and memories celebrating the spirit of Westport and the festival that has shaped our town’s creative soul.

Whether it’s a treasured memory, a fictional tale inspired by Westport, or a story handed down through generations, we want to hear your voice.

Submit your story (max 500 words)—real or imagined—for a chance to be featured in a published book, Echoes of Westport – A Celebration of Stories and Memories.

What you need to know:

Memoir or fiction. Text only, no images.

Word count: Up to 500 words

Deadline: Midnight 31 July 2025

A panel of local writers, book reviewers and editors will select the top 50 entries to be published in the book, which will be launched during Westival. But that’s not all—every submission will be displayed at the launch event for attendees to read.

 Launch event highlights:

  • Book Launch: Thursday 23 October

  • Readings from selected stories

  • Live music and refreshments

  • Book on sale 

  • All submissions on display

We’ll also be sharing writing prompts on social media to help spark your imagination—so whether you’re a seasoned storyteller or trying something new, there’s a place for your voice in this community celebration.
