Tertulia is joined by award winning author Una Mannion to explore the themes of Who we are and the role of fiction in exploring themes of identity. Fiction has the profound ability to help us lose ourselves and in so doing find ourselves.


Una Mannion was born in Philadelphia and lives in County Sligo Ireland. She has won numerous prizes for her poetry and short stories. Her debut novel, A Crooked Tree, was an Irish bestseller and was nominated for the An Post Irish Book Awards, the Dalkey Prize and it won the Kate O'Brien prize 2022. Her second novel, Tell Me What I Am was published with Faber in June 2023 and Harper Books in August 2023. She has won numerous prizes for her short stories and poetry, including the Cúirt International Short Story Award, Doolin Short Story, Allingham Short Fiction and Ambit Short Story prizes. She teaches on the Writing + Literature programme at ATU Sligo and edits The Cormorant, a journal of poetry and prose.
