Beginners Workshop
12pm - 1pm. Beginners Ukulele Workshop for all ages hosted by Lisa Cannon (Ukulele Sligo) on the 2nd Floor of Westport Town Hall Theatre
Join Lisa Cannon from Ukulele Sligo for a welcoming introduction for all ages in playing the ukulele! Even if you’ve never played an instrument before, you’ll have fun learning chords and a song or two in this short space of time.
No ukulele? No problem! A limited number of instruments will be available to borrow so you can give it a try.
1pm - 2pm. Intermediate Workshop for adults only hosted by David Dee Moore (Westele) on the 2nd Floor of Westport Town Hall Theatre
*Note there will be a limited amount of ukuleles available for both classes if needed and the price for each workshop is €10.
3pm - 4.30pm Everyone is invited to participate at the Octagon (weather permitted) for a Flashmob. This will include singing and playing a chosen song which be in a QR code or link on the Westelele or Westival site. The song chosen will be the viral hit 'Be My Boomerang Baby' which will be lead on the day by Galway singer songwriter Ultan Conlon. This will be filmed for future viewing on social media. here is the link to be added.
The Flashmob song will be followed by a jam session where various Uke groups and individuals will be asked to perform with a percussion and bass guitar backing provided.
*Note the Flashmob will be held in Westport Town Hall Auditorium if the weather is bad
6.00pm - 8.30pm McCarthy's Bar will host a Jam session with everyone invited to play and listen. There will be a stage set up as well for individual performances.
