We Are An Archipelago is a unique poetry/music show - a dynamic, performed story set to live score. An hour long, it is told in three voices, interspersed with songs and musical soundscapes, featuring spoken word performer Erin Fornoff and (Louisburgh-based!) musician Patrick O'Laoghaire of I Have a Tribe on piano, vocals, and loop pedals. As a performance poet, Erin Fornoff has performed at Glastonbury Festival, featured on BBC3, and opened for James Taylor, and singer-songwriter Patrick O'Laoghaire is renowned as a singer-songwriter who has toured with the Villagers and Bon Iver on arena tours.
We Are An Archipelago tells the (semi-true) story of ninety-nine year old Bill, who moves back to the little (Inis Oirr-esque) island of his birth, where he meets Deena, a young pregnant woman fleeing a difficult past. At the dusk and dawning of their two lives, a gentle friendship sustains them as a hurricane - and a baby-arrive simultaneously.
