As part of the festival partnership between Westival and the Westport Festival of Chamber Music, the Gealán Quartet will be performing in the beautiful setting of Grove House.
‘A bright spell’ the Gealán String Quartet brings home some of Ireland’s finest musicians, kindly invited once more by the National String Quartet Foundation as part of their upcoming 2023 series, the Gealán quartet continue their journey together, this time exploring Schumann’s musical outburst in his elegantly intricate first string quartet, along side the hugely personal and haunting eight string quartet of Shostakovich. In addition to their upcoming tour, the Gealán quartet will be proudly performing the newly commissioned work by Derry born and contemporary composer Michael Doherty.
