Poet and writer Karen J McDonnell asks you to bring along a small item to use as a prompt during this poetry workshop in which we will explore history, memories and stories to write drafts and a new poem.

There will be plenty of time for writing, discussion, and for reading work at the end of the class. This workshop is all about the experience of drafting work, and there is no obligation to read if you don't want to.

Karen is published widely; recently in Vital Signs, Poems of Illness and Healing (Poetry Ireland), Romance Options, Love Poems for Today (Dedalus Press). Work was Best of the Net and Pushcart nominated. Her poem Driftwood was shortlisted for 2021 Irish Poem of the Year. Karen has received several writer's bursaries and has read at many festivals and on RTÉ's Poetry Programme and Sunday Miscellany. She has a degree in History, Classics and Writing from the University of Galway and is interested in using history and family stories as inspiration for new work. Her poetry collection This Little World is published by Doire Press.
