What does it mean to call a place home?
Portraits of Home is a photography and audio exhibition exploring belonging through the voices of people who live in Mayo. The participants come from a wide range of backgrounds—some were born here, some arrived from elsewhere, and many know what it is to build a home while holding connections to another place.
The portraits are accompanied by short audio reflection, inviting visitors to hear participants speak in their own words about memory, identity, family, migration, community, an object that connects them to a sense of home and the many ways we come to belong.
Rather than searching for differences, Portraits of Home reveals the experiences we share. Whether home is the place you were born, the place you chose, or somewhere between the two, these stories invite us to reflect on what connects us all.
